Are you a member of school staff or a health professional looking for someone to deliver a workshop or introduce the Massage in Schools Programme (MISP) to children? We can help you find a MISP Instructor.
Most of our instructors are already working with children in schools and other situations but a number of our members are independent and able to work in a variety of settings.
Maybe you are looking for some workshops for your Healthy Living Week, Happy Hearts Week or other event. Perhaps you would like someone to introduce the Massage in Schools Programme to the children in your school, after school club or youth group.
These are some of our recent requests:
“We are having a Healthy Lifestyles week at the Primary School that I work at in Cheltenham and wondered whether you could put me in touch with someone who might be able to come in and do some sessions with the children.” Teacher
“We are interested in booking a trained MISP instructor who may be able to work with one or two year groups in our primary school. This would be to lead the classes through the programme with the class teachers once a week, until the routine is established. Initially, we would like the instructor to work with our Year 5 cohort, where we have two classes. We are familiar with the programme and would ensure the learned routines are undertaken outside of the guided sessions. If you are able to put us in touch with someone, we would be most grateful.” Deputy Head
And the feedback:
We like to think that our Instructors are successful in their work so this is the feedback from one satisfied customer who had requested the help of a MISP Instructor for Happy Hearts Week. "The intention of Happy Hearts Week was to promote good health both physically and emotionally. The MISP was an excellent example of this. It not only relaxed any tension in children’s bodies, but also allowed them to feel appreciated and valued by their peers. Throughout the massage exercises the children were constantly checking that their partners were comfortable and enjoying the routine. Those being massaged were able to express exactly how they wanted to be touched. There was a significant difference in the behaviour of certain children during lessons following the massage. They seemed to be more focused, less fidgety and more likely to contribute ideas. I am looking forward to establishing the MISP in our school."
If you would like to find a MISP Instructor in your Local Education Authority (LEA) you can use the facility below. Select your Region and then LEA. MISP Instructors that are able to work independently will be listed by name, telephone number and with an email contact facility. If there are no names shown, then check with adjoining LEAs to see if there are members there that can help you.
